Q1. Please tell us a bit about yourself and why you are running.
A: I love the people, our valley & our culture! I will represent, serve and govern on behalf of the citizens of Duncan!
My bio : Bobby “The Wizard” Cole is a multi-faceted bilingual (French & English) entertainer who has performed across Canada & the USA. Bobby's career began in his teens in Vancouver / Vancouver Island, BC as a musician He then attended and completed the Jazz Course at Malaspina University in Nanaimo. He made his way to Montreal in the 1970s where he met and became friends with the founders and the first cast members of Cirque du Soleil. He has performed as a featured entertainer for over 30 years at distinguished events such as the XV Olympic Winter Games, Parliament Hill (New Year's Eve & Canada Day - Main Stage, Ottawa), Canadian Museum of Civilization, Expo '86 –( Canada Place, Plaza of Nations, BC Pavilion, Vancouver), Cirque du Soleil, (Québec featured sideshow act)), and Just for Laughs Festival, Montreal.
Q2. The community survey results placed a high priority on sustainability, in particular on protecting our watersheds, water supply and water quality, as well as on creating a more sustainable local economy. If elected, please describe what your approach would be to those issues.
A: We need to seek advice from community leaders dealing with similar issues & listen to our Citizens on the best way to achieve our collective goals and then govern as Mayor & council.
Q3. The survey results indicated citizens want to see more consultation and accountability between elected officials and their constituents. If elected, please describe what your approach would be to those issues.
A: I pledge to be held accountable and will consult with the citizens of Duncan often for every day I hold office.
Q4. What is your position on municipal tax rates and the corresponding level and allocation of services?
A: There always has to be a balance between our taxes and the level of our services. As Mayor & council, we need to research new ways of generating revenue for our city other than taxes. More revenue, better services and lower taxes!
Q5. What is your vision for this area, and how would getting elected help achieve it?
A: I envision growth prosperity for our Cowichan valley citizens and I will listen, seek advice and govern on behalf of the citizens of Duncan, BC. Canada.
