Deb Foster

Cowichan Valley School District Trustee Candidate

Q1. Please tell us a bit about yourself and why you are running.

A: My name is Deb Foster and I am proud to call the Cowichan Valley home. I have an incredible daughter who attends the grade twelve French Immersion program at Cowichan Secondary school. I am a volunteer member on the Cowichan United Way board. I am passionate about the arts and volunteer for the Cowichan Music Festival and Carlson’s School of Dance. I have volunteered for the South Island Musical Society, costume fundraiser as a green-faced witch stirring the cauldron at the Duncan Halloween Train.

I am running for re-election for school trustee because, I believe advocating for public education is an honorable pursuit. I believe our kids deserve a public education system that offers them the opportunity to reach their full human potential.

Q2. What is your vision for the school district, and how would getting elected help achieve it?

A: My vision for School District #79 is democratic governance, with people being treated inclusively with dignity and respect.  I have a proven track record of listening to people and bringing their concerns and ideas to school board decisions.  I believe fully funded and resourced public schools should be the heart of public education.  I will continue to advocate for all children and their families by supporting public education and all the hard working people that make it possible.  On their first day of kindergarten your child has dreams, you have hopes for your child, and public education has the key to make it happen.  If elected, I will be your voice for Cowichan public schools!
