* Please tell us a bit about yourself and what made you decide to run in this election?
I have lived in the Cowichan Valley most of my life, I attended our schools, my children attended our schools and now 3 of my Grandchildren are also! During my 29 years with the District I have had many roles, clerical at the School Board, Middle School and Elementary School levels and Noon Hour Supervisor. “Students First” needs to be at the forefront of any agenda which is why this is a perfect time to step in to continue building on the present successes of the board and help to shape the future.
* What is your vision for the school district and how would getting elected help achieve it?
My vision is that all of our schools have an inclusive, positive, caring, learning environment. Keeping our students, educators, families, and partner groups informed heard and respected is at the top of my agenda.
I recognize that a happy, healthy, respectful environment fosters learning. As well, all students need to feel included, respected and cared for, to thrive and learn. Being part of the school environment, as well as sitting on my Local Union Executive, I have gained a great working knowledge of our district. I believe my experience will be a great asset to the board when making decisions.
