Local Control

Citizens in Cowichan had to come together to force the BC Government to better manage the water levels in the Cowichan River. It occurred to us that we could be doing the management ourselves through the Cowichan Watershed Board.

So, we came together to press the province to allow for more local control in its new water law, and indeed that new law opens the door for this. Hear more about that here.

We are therefore working with anybody interested to build support for a proposal for local control to be submitted to Victoria once the right regulations are in place.

The Local Control Working Group is chaired by Parker Jefferson who can be reached via the One Cowichan email at onecowichan[at]gmail[dot]com
