Q1. Please tell us a bit about yourself and why you are running.

A: This will be my fourth term as the electoral area director for mill bay/malahat if I am elected. Reason I do it is because I enjoy it. Shirley and I have lived in mill bay for 25 years and wouldn't live anywhere else.

Q2. The community survey results placed a high priority on sustainability, in particular on protecting our watersheds, water supply and water quality, as well as on creating a more sustainable local economy. If elected, please describe what your approach would be to those issues.

A: As I have been doing for the last couple of years is being a participant the south cowichan waste management team looking at suggestions and solutions to protecting our ground water aquifer. As well as being conservative in the support of any new zoning for development.

Q3. The survey results indicated citizens want to see more consultation and accountability between elected officials and their constituents. If elected, please describe what your approach would be to those issues.

A: For me as always I am easily approachable either by calling me at home, my cell phone or via email. I strongly support the question period at committee meetings and at the regional board level. We have some great people in the gallery who ask challenging questions.

Q4. What is your position on municipal tax rates and the corresponding level and allocation of services?

A: As an electoral area we don't have municipal tax rates, out taxes are based on assessment and the rates are determined by the provincial government. A electoral director cannot set the rates by either raising or lowering them. And just for your information mill bay/malahat had the lowest tax increase in last year's budget.

Q5. What is your vision for this area, and how would getting elected help achieve it?

A: Clean water, clean air, and a safe and healthy community
