Q1. Please tell us a bit about yourself and why you are running.

A: I was born and raised in the east.Joined the Ottawa Police Department at the age of 21 and after 3 years of service to the citizens of Ottawa spent 5 plus years with the Metropolitan Toronto Police Department. What followed than was 23 year residency in Las Vegas NV My entire time there I was involved in someway or another with serving the public .My proudest accomplishment was being a successful business owner. This was done by offering an affordable service, listening to the wants and needs, and relying on my good common sense  I have 2 main reasons for running for Council. (1) the rising taxes and wasteful spending (2) the lack of common sense shown by the Municipality.

Q2. The community survey results placed a high priority on sustainability, in particular on protecting our watersheds, water supply and water quality, as well as on creating a more sustainable local economy. If elected, please describe what your approach would be to those issues.

A: It's no secret  only the lack of oxygen stands in front of water for survival. We must be more respectful of our water. Where it comes from, keeping it clean  and using it wisely. It will take collaboration with many identities the farming community, the forest industry etc. We must  see how we can benefit from the new Water Sustainability Act coming in to effect in 2015

Q3. The survey results indicated citizens want to see more consultation and accountability between elected officials and their constituents. If elected, please describe what your approach would be to those issues.

A: First start with having evening meeting. Where the majority of working individuals. can attend  Set a time limit on the length If we need to continue so be it. We will see you all tomorrow same time same place. The voting records of all initiatives and bylaws should be posted listing the way each council  member voted. NOT just pass or denied.

Q4. What is your position on municipal tax rates and the corresponding level and allocation of services?

A: Tax hikes of 10% per year for 10 years. And still you find countless property owners who do not even get the basic of service (water, storm drains, garbage pick up) for their tax dollars. There is no doubt in my mind with the size of our budget we can find ways of saving money and improve the necessary service to the taxpayers.

Q5. What is your vision for this area, and how would getting elected help achieve it?

A: Electing candidates with common sense to the new council will be a great start. I believe one main reason people move to the valley is because of the pace of life, the beauty, and mild weather. The truth is North Cowichan will never be a place of large industry and major corporations. According to Stats Canada next year there will be more seniors than children in this fine country we call Canada. Lets give the largest  growing demographic  reasons to visit our beautiful valley and MORE reasons to call Cowichan Valley home.
