Cowichan Valley School District Trustee Candidate
Q1. Please tell us a bit about yourself and why you are running.
A: My name is Randy Doman and I am the father of two school aged children. I am running for the position of School Trustee. Like my parents before me, I was born and raised in the Cowichan Valley. I have had the privilege of being involved with a public elementary school since my oldest daughter started school in 2009. I have volunteered at many school activities, from field trips to spring fairs. More formally, I have been member of DPAC, representing the Maple Bay Elementary PAC since 2012. In addition, I have been a volunteer coach with the Duncan Basketball Association (DBA), where I sit on the board of directors, for more than 25 years.
Q2. What is your vision for the school district, and how would getting elected help achieve it?
A: I am running for a seat on the Cowichan Valley Board of Education because I feel that every child is entitled to the best public education possible. I grew up in this community and want to make a difference. I am determined to provide our next generation with great learning experiences that will unlock opportunities for a brighter future. I am well aware that the challenge for the next Board of Education will be to focus all available financial resources to provide meaningful classroom experiences. I want to work with, and support, every member of our learning community. I am asking for your support to make a difference for your children, and for mine.
