River Flow Petition

JUST STARTED
GOAL: 1,000 signatures

Even though the rains have come, the question of who controls the Cowichan River water levels on behalf of the salmon has not been resolved.

Because there's a weir at Cowichan Lake, water levels can be better managed even through dry weather, but the BC government has not done a good job of this, putting fish at risk.

Please add your voice below to those calling for faster action to save our salmon. Your message will be sent to the responsible Minister - the Hon. Steve Thomson.

Petition Letter

Dear Minister Thomson,

I am deeply concerned about how water levels in the Cowichan River have been managed, putting our salmon at risk.

It doesn't have to be this way.

There are options to manage water levels in the river through smarter use of the weir at Cowichan Lake.

I therefore call on you to act to remedy this situation right away, and longer term, to give responsible local governments - including First Nations - the authority to better manage our water.

Yours sincerely,
